When the Brewers are at their best at the plate, they’re wearing down opposing pitchers. One night after being uncharacteristically quiet with the bats on the wrong end of a shutout, Milwaukee tapped that well once again with a gritty performance in an 8-2 win over the Giants. “We had a good offensive approach all night,” manager Pat Murphy said. “… Twice we had two outs, nobody on and scored three runs. That's the sign of a team that's grinding, trying to do everything they can to create runs. “It was contact, putting balls in play, and just staying relentless. Really good, really good offensive performance.” It was exemplary of a club that entered Tuesday tied for third in the Majors with 3.96 pitches seen per plate appearance. The relentless attack backed rookie right-hander Logan Henderson's gritty outing, one that was only possible after he overcame a lengthy 33-pitch first inning that saw the bullpen spark to life before he was able to escape the frame. “Logan did this last year,” Murphy said. “He made good starts for us last year and then got injured, but he's so capable. He's making a name for himself. Quietly shows up, and he's been super consistent every outing.” Henderson truly has been the picture of consistency. He has allowed three runs or fewer in each of his first 14 career starts – the longest such streak to start a career in Brewers history. He fell one out shy of tying his career high for a start (six innings), but he understood the situation. “I was happy that I got the first two guys, but it was really good to get into the sixth today because that's been a huge goal of mine," he said. "Now we’ll try to get into the seventh. It was good.”
